Module 1: Culminating Project
Module 1: Overview
Students are to combine their skills to create a working web site for a local
school-based, non-profit or commercial organization. Either individually or
as a group, they will follow the same steps and stages as for the mock web site
project in Unit 5, but this time realizing that the final product is intended
to be published on the internet.
Module 1: List of lessons:
- Lesson 1: Instructor introduced segment of the course.
- Description: This "real-world" project is the culmination
of all the skills that the students have acquired over the course of the
semester.
- Learner Outcome: This is the capstone project of the course and
combines all outcomes of the previous units.
- Activities:
- Instructor should begin by having students link to the lesson
document for the Culminating Project.
- Explain the perameters and timeline involved.
- Emphasize common pitfalls such as lack of client contact, insufficient
time organization, etc.
- Emphasize that they should treat every aspect of this part of the
course as if they were working for a paying client.
- Suggested Assessment: The site rollout can be done with the instructor
and group alone, or with the entire class depending on many factors. It
is suggested that you use the class web site evaluation rubric developed
in Unit 1, but you may choose to use a mixture of self evaluation, peer
evaluation and instructor evaluation.
