Lesson 2: Construction of the Mock Web Site

Overview

In this lesson your group developes the web site for your fictitious company. Remember, care must be taken to make the look of the home page as authentic (real) as possible, but you are not required to construct any other pages than the home page. Rather than being a set of step by step directions this lesson lets you know what elements must be included on the homepage of your company web site. One stipulation you must follow as you develop your company's home page is that you initially layout your page using Dreamweaver's Layout View.

Challenge:

To layout the home page for your company according to your plan developed in the previous lesson using Dreamweaver's Layout View and include all the required elements.

Learner Outcomes:

At the completion of this exercise, you will be able to:

  1. use Dreamweaver's features for creating and modifying tables.
  2. design a web document's layout in the layout view.
  3. discriminately use Dreamweaver's features for creating and modifying layers.
  4. use Dreamweaver's features for incorporating Flash elements and Java rollovers.
  5. create an image map using Dreamweaver 4.0

Required Elements for the Mock Web Site:

  1. Use the Layout View in Dreamweaver 4.0 to start the layout of your home page. For a review of Dreamweaver's Layout View, select "Designing Web pages" from the main menu of the Guided Tour.
  2. navigation buttons (Use the Flash buttons available in Dreamweaver 4.0 and include a java rollover effect.)
