Lesson 1: Color Theory in Web Design
Overview:
The purpose of this assignment is to gain a general understanding of the concepts
of color use in effective web design.
Activities
- View the online slide presentation on Color
Theory in Web Design
- Individually, using markers and other color art supplies, design full
color rough sketches on paper of two web sites, modelling them after the
example sites and basing them on two of the following four color schemes:
- Monogamous
- Complimentary
- Triadic
- Analogous
When finished sketching the two page designs, have them checked by the
instructor.
- Now using what you know of HTML coding for background colors, text colors
and images, create two pages following your design schemes as close as
possible. The pages should be labelled with the color scheme you were
using, but otherwise the subject matter is up to you. Link these pages to
the personal page you began in Unit 2.
