MysteryQuest (April, 2007) a project is designed for 5th grade students studying US geography.

Through videoconference technology, students are able to meet other students while learning about cities and states in the United States. Prior to the videoconference each classroom will create a presentation with clues about their ONE mystery country and city. The other classrooms, using maps, the Internet, textbooks, and other resources, will try to discover the mystery location presented by each participating classrooms. Interactive Music Distance Learning Project (7-23-07) Grades: 6-12

Manhattan School of Music (MSM) seeks middle, high and/or collegiate education partners to participate in cost-free music distance learning collaboration in which MSM Doctoral program would design, create and present interactive music programs to present via videoconference to partner classrooms around the country. The Origins and Culture of Hula  (1-7-08)  Grades 6-8

Hula is a form of worship to Hawaiian gods. Their poetry, music and dance were sacred to the Hawaiians. In the 1820’s hula was banished until Kalakaua joined kahiko and auana (two kinds of hula). Toys in Space Investigation (10-22-07) Grade 9

We are currently looking for an English-speaking country (outside of the USA) to participate in a videoconference with an American school located in Huntsville, AL.  The collaborative project will take over three weeks (beginning in November) and will consist of two videoconferences with NASA and the school here.

Part 1- Students participate in Toys in Space videoconference with NASA and meet the other school. At end of videoconference, the students will be challenged to design and market a toy that will work on the Moon.

Part 2- Students break into teams (4-6 students per team) and design and market a toy that will work on the Moon to NASA. This can include a Power Point, flier, or a video commercial.

Part 3- the two schools present their toys to one another and NASA.

Computer 3-D Model Competition with CHINA (4-14-07) Grades 9-12

We are looking for partners to take part in a computer project involving children in primary 4-6. The software we are using is Google Sketchup, a FREE 3D software created by Google. Google Sketchup is an excellent program with a lot of tutorials so that computer teachers need not do much prep work.
The project idea is this: we will decide on a theme which the children will create 3D models of. After these models are created, the children will then exchange their models to each other via email. Relevance of History (8-20-07) Grades 6-12

Emphasize the relevance of history in current events through a possible collaboration with the Ohio Historical Society that would result in your school receiving distance learning programming free of charge. The Ohio Historical Society is applying for a Nationwide Insurance grant that will showcase the relevance of history in current events. We are looking for schools that may be interested in collaborating with us to develop a distance learning presentation that will connect two schools to discuss a current event and how that event has been relevant throughout history. Examples of current events would include such topics the Minnesota bridge collapse, the mining disasters in Utah, and hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico.
One week prior to your scheduled connection, your class will be assigned a current event topic and will be provided with a list of resources that highlight the relevance of this topic throughout history. On the date of the program, OHS will mediate a discussion between the two schools. Our target audience for this presentation is middle and high school students. This program will be piloted during the months of April and May 2008.
