Description:
Learn to format and edit Word documents to produce classroom handouts and visuals, notices to parents, and record-keeping tools. Produce, store and retrieve learning materials electronically. This two-session course will provide foundational understanding and skills to apply Word basics to personal and classroom work. Participants will build upon the following powerful teaching and learning strategies:
- Teachers provide a classroom environment that actively engages all students in learning
- Teachers differentiate by using a variety of instructional strategies based on the assessed strengths, needs and interests of their students
Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- Locate and open existing documents
- Edit, copy and move text
- Format text and paragraphs
- Set and use tabs
- Create bulleted/numbered items
- Format a page, including setting margins, page numbers, header and footer
- Use find and replace functions
- Use navigation keys and functions
- Know how to use and apply the toolbar functions
- Use drawing toolbar
- Insert graphics into a document
- Use utility tools, including spell checker, thesaurus, grammar checker, and number of words in sentences
- Create, format and edit columns and tables
- Save documents in other file formats
- Merge data from other files for creating labels, envelopes and forms
- Adjust text around a graphic using the wrap feature
- Adjust text flow by inserting column or page breaks
