Search Skills and Using Database Module Key Competencies:

• Use basic search engines and explain search results
• Refine searches to obtain more specific information
• Choose the best search engine for a specific research assignment
• Use the main functions of Internet browsers
• Perform basic browser functions (navigation buttons, menus, etc.)
• Move between Web pages using addresses and links
• Save and edit text and images from Web pages using citations in MLA format
• Use and distribute information from the Internet within the guidelines of the law and school rules
• Identify databases available in your school and name the main uses for each
• Describe search strategies and use them to solve common information problems
• Locate information by key word, title, author and subject in library database
