  1. The student vocabulary list combines ideas from the Intel Corporation video "The Journey Inside: The Computer," and the "Building a Foundation for Tomorrow" modules from Tech Prep (NWCET). The terms are clustered to reinforce student understanding of hardware, software, and connectivity.  Students can also use the Intel Web site to gain more knowledge of how computers work.
  2. Use the BINGO activity or the Crossword Puzzle to reinforce understanding and retention of vocabulary definitions. The key for the Crossword Puzzle is in your T: drive.
  3. Time permitting, students can read and discuss articles dealing with computer issues:

Summarizing and reacting to the content of these articles might serve as a keyboarding practice activity.

Supplemental Activities:

  1. You can locate a pdf file called "The Parts of a Computer" at this website: The Basic Parts of a Computer. These illustrated definitions can be printed and used to enrich students' hands on experience with a dismantled computer. Another useful site is howstuffworks. How PC's Work contains links to pictures and explanations.
  2. You can print this list--Definitions for Computer Vocabulary--to use to supplement information during the vocabulary discussion. Some of its terms are different, but it follows the same order as the student vocabulary list. Consult the web site if you need more information: http://www.techterms.com/
  3. Teachers can also use the Computer Terminology fill-in form for student practice or assessment purposes.
