Materials needed:
Student portfolios (from Career Center)
'Pathways in Whatcom County' video (from Career Center)
Printed class copies of Pathway brochures (from Career Center)
'Pathways' overview sheets
'Career Qualities Chart'

Unit 2 - Explore Your Options: Explain what Pathways are: "Pathways organize occupations into areas of interest. Pathways allow you to explore your interests, talents, and abilities and to begin to explore career and educational options suitable for you."

Procedures:

Step 1 – Show 'Pathways in Whatcom County' video.

Step 2 – Hand out Portfolios and have students retrieve (blue) Career & Ed. Planning Card

Step 3 – Checking the Pathway(s) they recorded on the card, have them pick up the matching 'Pathway' brochure(s) and give them a few minutes to review the suggested classes, activities and careers

Step 4 – Hand out and review 'Pathway Overview' sheet

Step 5 – Complete 'Career Qualities' chart.

Step 6 – Have students select top 2 careers of interest from chart and enter information onto blue 'Career & Educational Planning Checklist' in their portfolio.

Step 7 – Students turn in their completed charts to teacher for evaluation/points.
