| Projector Mounting Process:
The mounting of projectors in the ceiling is considered a permanent installation. The teacher and principal need to consider the mounting of Tier One incentive projectors. The projector will not be moved without the approval of the school principal.
- School determines which option (cart installation or ceiling installation)
- For Cart Option, schools purchase extension cord and power strip, and place order with Computer Services for cart.
- For Ceiling Option:
- Determine and purchase the appropriate mount based on ceiling composition.
- Once the mount arrives, place work order for Maintenance to install the mount and power drop.
- Once the mount is installed, place a work order for the school technician to install the projector in the mount. Please make sure the school custodian is available to assist and make available a ladder and tools.
- The school technician will provide the connections to the identified computer and provide the necessary connection cabling. Power cords are the school’s responsibility.
Cart Option:
Computer Services will provide a presentation cart for the classroom to support an LCD projector and document camera. Computer Services will provide the VGA cable to reach from the projector to an identified computer for instructional purposes.
The school is responsible for the purchase of an extension cord (14-2) and power strip to support the equipment on the cart. If the extension cord traverses the floor, the school is responsible for purchasing and installing floor cord molding.
Ceiling Option:
School responsibilities include the purchase of the appropriate mount, power extension cords, and walker duct if desired (cover for cabling along walls and fixed ceilings). Duct tape may not be used to secure cables to the ceiling, wall, or floor.
Ceiling mounts: our vendor is Troxell Communications.
- Suspended ceiling mount: Peerless CMJ500
- Fixed ceiling mount: Peerless ACC912
- Extension column (adjustable 3 to 5 feet)
- Universal projector mount: Peerless PRGUNV
The appropriate mount depends upon the ceiling height and construction.

Ceiling location of mounts: The projector mounts ideally are located no more than 8 feet back from the “teaching wall” and 112” from the floor. Using the keystone and zoom features on the projector will adequately square up the image to display using these location measurements:
Minimum distance from the teaching wall: 7.5 feet
Maximum distance from the teaching wall: 9 feet
Minimum distance from the floor: 7 feet
Maximum distance from the floor: 9.5 feet
Power in the ceiling: As a ceiling mounted projector becomes a permanent fixture, a power outlet in the ceiling adjacent to the projector mount is required. A maintenance request needs to be submitted for this work. Extension cords made be used temporarily with the agreement that the building supply an appropriate cord (14-2) and that it is unplugged when not in use.
Walker duct: Schools desiring cable covering (walker duct) on the ceiling and walls will need to provide a building field PO to cover the cost. Ceiling walker duct is optional, but exposed cables need to be covered on wall drops.
