Bellingham School District 8th Grade Technology Performance Assessment

Student Directions

PLANNING TIME

____ 1.  Meet together in your group away from a computer and read through all the printed directions.

____2.  Go to the computers and open the various files to familiarize yourselves with the whole process you will follow in creating the final product you will present to the "audience".  The files are located on the p:drive in a folder called "Technology Assessment". In addition to that folder, each team has their own folder, (Team 1, Team 2, Team 3) where you will save your work.

____3.  Develop your plan and divide the tasks for completing this project.  Remember that all three options must be investigated before making the final selection.

WORK ON PROJECT

____4.  DATA CONVERSION

Convert your table of data (Music Data.xls) into a chart. Paste this into the appropriate place on your presentation template.

____5. DATA COLLECTION

Gather data from World Book and the Internet site. (The Internet site you must use is located at  http://history.acusd.edu/gen/recording/digital2.html and is available for you on your school’s Homepage)  Locate and record pertinent facts.  You will want to paste your findings into the Grid found on page two of your presentation template, rather than retype them.  Gather data to fill all cells of the grid before making your selection.

____6. PRESENTATION TEMPLATE

A PowerPoint template is located in your team folder on the p: drive. Use it in creating a visual presentation. You may want to paste information into the templates, rather than retype it every time.

_____7. PRINTING YOUR PRESENTATION NOTES

It is a good idea to print out your presentation and add written notes – you may use these notes during the oral presentation step of this task. Be sure to follow the written directions for the print format you are to use.

SAVE

Save often, especially before each break and 5 minutes before presentation time.  Be careful to note where you save your work, so you can easily locate it when it's time to present.

MAIL

E-mail your final project to your librarian after the presentations are over.

Thank you again for your efforts here today and for all of your help!
