Module 11
Investigating Curriculum Resources

Introduction:

The Bellingham Public Schools Home Page has links to incredible teacher resources. Here you will find gems which could keep you busy for days and change the way you teach forever.

Exploration:

It is safer to use your H: drive bookmarks in every case, as you know no one has added to them except you. Here's how to import your H: drive bookmarks to the Favorites folder:

  • In Internet Explorer, click on Favorites.
  • Click on Organize Favorites. If you see your old bookmarks here, ignore them.
  • Click on the drop-down arrow to the right of the Favorites dialog box, and find your personal H: drive directory.
  • Right click on your bookmark file and select "copy".
  • Go to Favorites, Organize Favorites.
  • Right click on your mouse and select "paste"
  • If it asks to you want to overwrite the folder with your name, answer yes. (Remember your H: drive file is always right, not that on this computer)

With a partner, please go to the Bellingham School District's Teacher Center, and click on TEACHING RESOURCES. With your partner spend 15 minutes exploring sites which appeal to you. Add three more bookmarks while you explore. While you are searching please keep in mind the following question:

  • How might something you find here help you professionally?

To get back to this page use the File Menu and find Investigating Teacher Resources.

Don't forget to save your bookmarks to your H drive like you did in the last Module.

  • Click on Favorites.
  • Click on Organize Favorites.
  • Right click on your bookmark folder, and select "copy".
  • Click on the arrow to the right of the favorites dialog box.
  • Find your directory in the "H" drive.
  • Right click on the mouse and select "paste".
  • Your bookmarks will copy to your H: drive for your use next time.

Discussion:

Spend the next 10-15 minutes, with your partner, answering the question listed above, discussing the sites which you might use.
