Steps for this Project
You will follow the Research
Cycle as you work through this project. The steps
are:
Questioning
Guiding question: "What are the interrelationships among political systems, cultures, environments, and economies? " You will develop a list of qualities that make a good place to live, categorize them into four groups and develop questions based on those categories.
Planning
You will survey countries in a region by examining maps, statistical tables, and your textbook. Find three countries that are possible choices for your best place to live.
Gathering
Use your textbook, atlases, and links to selected web sites to gather information.
Sorting and Sifting
You have gathered a lot of information about your country. Now it is time to focus on the most positive characteristics and data for each country.
Synthesizing
Now it is time to look at the big picture. Determine why characteristics or data about your country is important to people living there.
Gather, Sort, Sift, Synthesize
Repeat these steps until you have all the information you need.
Evaluating
Does your research support your decision? How well did you work as a team?
Reporting
You will present your selection of "The Best Country to Live In" to the other research teams using a persuasive and informative PowerPoint presentation, a poster and product or demonstration, or a letter home to your parents.
