Research Investigation
People live in widely differing geographical areas of the world. Some areas might be better places to live than others, based on various criteria and needs established by individuals.
During this term of study, students use the Five Themes of Geography to explore choices for the best places to live, based on team questions and research into the geographies of selected locations.
Students complete this research cycle three times, once for each continent (Latin America, Asia, Africa). As students become progressively more skillful about questioning and research, they gain more insight into overarching geographical themes.
The Five Themes of Geography:
- Location
- Place
- Human-Environment Interaction
- Movement
- Region
