Path to Peace? Tumult in the Middle East

What causes conflicts among people, and how do people attempt to resolve those conflicts?

Bellingham Schools Research Investigation

7th Grade

Project Scenario

Conflict in the Middle East has continued for hundreds of years despite the efforts of some of the world’s greatest peacemakers.  The time has come to try a new approach!

The President has decided that young people may have a new and unique perspective that has never been considered.  He has called each state to gather teams of 7th grade students for a Middle East Think Tank.

Consider the four policy perspectives and determine what policy the U.S. should adopt in the Middle East.

1.    Police A Rough Neighborhood

2.    Keep Our Eye on the Prize

3.    Promote Western Values

4.    Break Free of Entanglements

Your charge: Describe your policy and how it will create a solution to the conflict and benefit the people of the world.

Be prepared to convince the President and the other Think Tank teams that your policy is the one that should be adopted.
