What causes conflicts among people, and how can resolutions be reached?

Bellingham Schools Research Investigation

7th Grade

Project Scenario

The remains have become the center of quite a legal controversy.  Two groups claim the rights to the bones:

·        The Umatilla Native Americans

·        A group of eight archaeologists

Your task is to learn about each group claiming rights to the bones, and then, based on law and a logical decision making process, decide who has legal rights to the bones of Kennewick Man.

You will write a legal brief, a document that explains why you decided in favor of one claimant, and ruled against the other claimant.

Gain Background Knowledge
Read about Kennewick Man before you do any research to understand the issue.
