Sorting and Sifting Information
Organize and select information that contributes to your understanding.

You have gathered information to answer your questions and have investigated 3 candidates. It’s time to sort through all of this information.

  • Open and print your completed Note Sheet.
  • Check off all questions answered sufficiently.
  • Identify new insights and discoveries of importance.
  • Expand your original list of questions to include those new questions, which have emerged during your recent research.
  • Identify and discard irrelevant information.
  • Condense, combine, and/or rearrange your information in categories as needed.
  • Write down new ideas and thoughts that arise as you and your partner look over your notes.
  • Identify what information you still need to gather.

Special note:
When this research is completed, you will highlight the information that specifically answers each question. Use another color to highlight information that may need further clarification. Delete information that is unnecessary. When this task is completed share with your teacher.

Go to your teacher with evidence that you have completed the steps above.
