Where Would You Settle?

How do geography, culture, and economy affect where people live?

Bellingham Schools Research Investigation

5th Grade

Sorting and Sifting Information
Organize and select information that contributes to your understanding.

You need to be sure your facts are organized and useful. Ask the following questions while looking at your Note Sheet.

  • Do you have enough information to select a region?
  • Do you understand the information you gathered?
  • Do you need to go back and find more information on a region?
  • Can you delete facts that are not useful or do not relate to your question?

The research process does not go in a straight line.  Most times you need to repeat some steps.  Be prepared to return to Questioning, Planning, Gathering, and Sorting and Sifting as many times as necessary to complete your job.

  • Open and print your completed Note Sheet when you are sure the research is done. Next
