Reporting Your Project
Persuasively present your decisions based on your information.

Creating your letter home and your persuasive presentation

Personal Letter: Each student should create a letter that persuades your family in England that the region you have selected is the best one in which to settle.

§         Give reasons why you selected the area and why you felt those were the most important reasons.

§         Include at least one reason from geography, one from economy, and one from culture.

§         What was it about the geography that made this one Colonial area a better place to settle than the other two areas? What was it about the economy? The culture?

Tell why you did not select the other two areas. What was it about the geography, culture, and economics that did not fit your family’s needs?

Use appropriate voice and word choice for your audience, your own family, and your 1600’s identity! How would you describe your favorite place to live to your parents or brothers and sisters? What words would you use to convince them that this would be the best area in which to settle?

Persuasive Presentation: Each team creates a presentation that demonstrates their understanding of the different Colonial regions.

§         Show how the geography, economics, and culture of each area would affect your occupation.

§         Which area did you choose as the best for your family occupation needs?

§         What was it about the geography that made it the best fit for your family? What was it about the economics of that region? The culture?

What was it about the other two areas that made you choose not to settle there? Be sure to include examples from geography, economics, and culture.
