What do you need to know to solve the problem or make the decision?

Colonial Occupations List

Guiding Question: "How do geography, culture, and economy affect where people live?"

Focus Questions:
Geography: Which features will support your occupation? (lakes or rivers, coastal ports, soil type, climate)

Culture: Do people in the region need or use your skill? (customs and religious beliefs)

Economics: Do the resources support your occupation?  (products, crops, money, services, workers, customers, transportation)

Think about your occupation.

  • How will your occupation affect your decision of where to settle?
  • What does your occupation need in order to be successful?
  • What will you actually be doing?
