Citing Your Sources
When you gather facts and data from books, websites, magazine articles or other sources you must give credit to the people who wrote it.
A citation gives specific information about a source in a set format. Periods, commas, and underlining must be in the right places! If you cite correctly, you and others will be able to find that source again.

Lansky, Bruce. My Dog Ate My Homework!. New York: Meadowbrook Press, 2002.
Most of the information needed for a citation is found on the title page of a book. For websites you may need to look at both the very top and the very bottom of the page.

- Citation Maker (Oregon School Library Information System)- This website gives you information about all types of citations. Click on the words Citation Maker and fill in the boxes of the form to create a perfect citation!
- NoodleBib5 (NoodleTools)- Create a citation by clicking on the drop down menu choices and answering questions about your source.
- How To Compile a Bibliography (Oradell Public Schools, New Jersey)- Models are given for students in grades 1-6. If you do not find the type of citation you need, check in a higher grade level.
- Alderwood School Bibliography Page (Bellingham School District)- You will find simple models for many types of citations
When you have completed your citations, show your teacher. Make corrections where needed.
