Questioning
What do you need to know to solve the problem or make the decision?

Keep in mind the big question for this investigation: How do geography and resources affect the choices people make in Washington State?  In this project, you will be answering a more specific question: Which regions of Washington will your family visit on your summer vacation?

Before we try to answer this question, we have some smaller questions to think about.

Mountain Climbing:

  • What mountains are available for climbing?
  • What are some characteristics of the mountain? (How high is it? Are there glaciers? Is the mountain volcanic?)
  • How are the mountains different in different regions?

White Water Rafting:

  • Where can we raft?
  • How challenging - what would be a good river
  • What will you see on your rafting trip?

Fishing:

  • What bodies of water are available for fishing?
  • What kinds of fish are you likely to catch?
  • Is a boat needed or can we fish from land?

Festivals:

  • What are some good festivals that the whole family would enjoy?
  • How do these festivals feature the geography and resources of the region?
  • Which festival activities would be especially fun?Next
