Questioning
What do you need to know to solve the problem or make the decision?
Keep in mind the big question for this investigation: How do geography and resources affect the choices people make in Washington State? In this project, you will be answering a more specific question: Which regions of Washington will your family visit on your summer vacation?
Before we try to answer this question, we have some smaller questions to think about.
- What mountains are available for climbing?
- What are some characteristics of the mountain? (How high is it? Are there glaciers? Is the mountain volcanic?)
- How are the mountains different in different regions?
- Where can we raft?
- How challenging - what would be a good river
- What will you see on your rafting trip?
- What bodies of water are available for fishing?
- What kinds of fish are you likely to catch?
- Is a boat needed or can we fish from land?
- What are some good festivals that the whole family would enjoy?
- How do these festivals feature the geography and resources of the region?
- Which festival activities would be especially fun?
