What kind of pay will Uncle Cyrus earn as a fisherman?

Back to the Research Table

In 1900, the fish packing companies paid the fishermen 1 cent per pound.  The more and the bigger the fish they caught, the more they were paid.  The company also paid for all the food they ate during the fishing season. The average pay for a fisherman was about $1.50 per day.  Most fishermen thought that pay was too low.
