Dear Uncle Cyrus,
Papa told us that you are
thinking about leaving Peoria, Illinois, and moving out West! We think that
you should move to the Bellingham Bay area, so that your family can live near
our family. Papa told us that you are tired of running a hardware store, and
that you would like to try a different kind of job.
Papa is very busy as an
attorney. Everyone wants him to help with their legal problems. It’s hard for
Papa to find enough time to look into job opportunities for you.
Mama is busy, too. She is a
teacher and has been busy writing about the early days in our town.
Her father, Henry Ridgeway,
was one of the first settlers in this area as you will remember!
Since Papa and Mama are
both so busy, we told them that we are now old enough to look for job
opportunities for you! We just turned fourteen and twelve years old, so we
are almost grown up! We will start
investigating job opportunities in the Bellingham Bay area. If we can recommend a good job for you in
Whatcom County, will you and your family move here? We hope that you will!
