How did natural resources affect the choices people made in our local community?

Bellingham Schools Research Investigation

Historical Note to the Teacher

This research project is based on industries and businesses that were active in the Bellingham Bay area in the early 1900’s.  Permission to use historic photographs has been obtained from Whatcom Museum of History and Art or from owners of private collections and is identified within the project.

Some of the documents, letters, and articles were taken from Whatcom Museum archives and are credited within the project.  Others have been created for the purpose of conveying historical information in a format that is accessible to younger students.  We would like to express our sincere appreciation for permission to use these historic documents.

No copying of the project images and documents is permitted.

The members of the Booth and Ridgeway families are not real individuals and have been created for this project.
