Agenda: Reflections of Tim Magner’s and Marco Torres’s visit:

Learning:
Learn in the proper channel
Students that were ready for college, but college isn’t ready for them
Learning in new ways, teachers need a hook to instruct in new ways
After school access for the students, laptop checkout program

Teaching:
What the teacher models
Importance of the teacher as the facilitator
Advocate and push for technology
Teach in the proper channel
Marco works in the domains of experience discovery of the importance and value of our lives, immediate credibility and the ability to cross boundaries
Marco is an exceptional teacher as a foundation
We aren’t speaking the language of our students
It is the creative spark in teachers that makes learning meaningful
Learning in new ways, teachers need a hook to instruct in new ways
Week long technology infusion camp for teachers during the summer that will be continued and relevant
Professional development funding piece in the plan
Teacher share the learning with technology tools with other teachers “tech café”
Think tank of teachers to determine our future, there are no teachers in either tech depart.
Engine of innovation for the district, each instructional group takes a turn

Community:
Schools are connected to the community via technology
Digital divide in our communities

Support:
School 2.0 as a planning structure
Bandwidth is essential
The level of technology now vs. 30 years ago for students
Need the infrastructure, teacher dynamic, and the content seamlessly connected
Is the technology relevant, applicable, and meaningful
Supportive infrastructure, yet the security of the network doesn’t get in the way
Entrepreneurial environment
Marco’s classroom is not solely a technology issue
