Name:     (GUARD) Gathering, Using and Reporting Data       

Type:     Ad Hoc Committee

 

Purpose(s):

  • To identify data reporting requirements/needs/expectations for schools to use in instructional decision-making and in monitoring and updating school strategic plans
  • To identify data reporting requirements for external reports
  • To develop recommendations for gathering and coordinating data reporting needs
  • To make recommendations about building district and school capacity to gather, analyze and report data

 

Basis for Establishment:

  • Direction of Superintendent

 

Decision Making:

  • This group will develop recommendations for the Superintendent related to each of the purposes stated above.

Plan:

2002-03

  • Form group, clarify purpose, gather existing data and reporting requirements and capacities
  • Identify school level data needs for instructional decision-making and strategic plan monitoring and reporting
  • Preliminary information/ideas to principals
  • Incorporate student learning data in quarterly report to Gates
  • Further work based on principals' input
  • Report to School Board

2003-04

  • Compile and distribute GUARD Data Handbook
  • Review TetraData training proposal
  • Revise guidelines for updating strategic plans on website
  • Kick-off meeting with Tetra Data Project manager
  • Set priorities for implementation
  • Conduct data activities regarding DWA at HS level meeting
  • Conduct data activities regarding ITBS at Elementary & MS level meetings
  • Submit budget proposal for funding TetraData training for teacher and administrative data leaders

2004-05

  • Make recommendations about methodology and use of perceptual data from staff, students and parents
  • Coordinate and report to the Superintendent on training and implementation of data warehousing system (TetraData)

Responsibilities of Members:

  • Regularly attend meetings
  • Actively participate in discussions at meetings
  • Share responsibility for taking notes at meetings
  • Communicate work of the GUARD committee to administrator groups, and school and district staff
