BOARD POLICY
CONTRACT-BASED LEARNING
The Board recognizes that an alternative learning experience, offered through a contract-based learning program, provides an opportunity to meet the needs of students who, on the average, attend school five or fewer hours per week. The Superintendent shall develop and administer guidelines and procedures for a contract-based learning program that include:
1. In accordance with WAC 392-121-182, the development of a written contract-based learning plan for each student in the program that includes:
2. Assurance that curriculum and course requirements meet Board adopted curriculum, (Essential Student Learnings, student outcomes and expected student performance standards and in all areas of knowledge, skills, and qualities in each curricular area) and State essential learnings.
3. A description of how student performance will be supervised, evaluated and recorded.
4. A description of how student progress will be monitored and modified, if necessary, if a student fails to progress in the program.
5. The process for maintaining records of student plans, enrollment, attendance and total hours of participation in the program for audit purposes.
6. The responsibilities of parents or guardians of K – 8 students participating in a contract-based learning program.
