BELLINGHAM SCHOOL DISTRICT 501

BOARD POLICY
GRANT POLICY
The Bellingham School District Number 501 applies for competitive grant funds from various funding agencies and sources and, in many cases, the grant proposals are drafted by individuals from throughout the District. In order to coordinate this process, the Superintendent shall develop guidelines to help grant seekers in preparation of their grant proposals that clearly outline the steps required for submission of any grant from the Bellingham School District.
Acceptance of any grant constitutes a contract between the Bellingham School District and the funding source. For this reason, applications should be discussed with the various departments that will be impacted before being submitted to the Superintendent for approval. Specifically excluded from this policy are entitlement grants, including all federal and state allocation programs.
Most grant applications have deadlines for submission. It is, therefore, important to plan well in advance to get the necessary approval in a timely manner.
The staff at Central Services may be available to assist grant seekers in locating funding sources, drafting grant proposals, and packaging proposals for submission.
The Superintendent will keep the Board informed of major grant proposals and potential program implications. Grant proposals with significant district-wide impact require Board approval.
