ESSENTIAL STUDENT LEARNINGS
High student performance standards that provide clear targets for curriculum, instruction and program opportunities are to be set for the Bellingham School District. In order to accomplish this goal, a process for developing and reviewing Essential Student Learnings which specify the major learning outcomes for the District's high school graduates will be established. Administrators, teachers, patrons, and students will be included in the process for developing and proposing the Essential Student Learnings. Final review and adoption of Essential Student Learnings shall be the responsibility of the Board of Directors.
Essential Student Learnings as adopted by the Board shall guide and be reflected in the program outcomes, critical content and skills, student performance standards, and assessment practices which are developed in each curricular area.
