BOARD POLICY

  

PUBLIC COMPLAINTS

 

Constructive criticism motivated by a desire to improve the quality of the educational program or to equip the school system to carry out its mission more effectively is welcomed by the Bellingham Board of Directors.

 

Complaints from individuals concerning instruction, discipline, or building management are to be directed to the appropriate level for response according to the following sequence:

 

Classroom teacher

Principal

Assistant Superintendents for Instruction

Superintendent

Board of School Directors

 

The Board will address complaints only after they have been explored by the appropriate administrative level according to this sequence.

 

Complaints concerning individual employees of the Bellingham Schools will not be considered by the Board without specific documentation. Such complaints referred to the Board will be addressed in executive session when such action is necessary and permitted by the Open Meetings Law.
