Complete an Informational Interview or Community Service:

Informational Interview

Use the Whatcom Community Connection Partnership website www.whatcomconnections.org to complete the following tasks:

  1. Register as required.
  2. Submit Participation Forms to the high school Career Center.
  3. Download the following from the Student Resources menu:
    • CBL Checklist for Students
    • Opportunities Overview
    • Making the Appointment Phone Call
    • Making the Informational Interview Phone Call
    • Sample Informational Interview questions
    • Community Partner Evaluation Form
    • Thank You Letter Guidelines
    • Student Reflection Sheet
  4. Use the search process on the website to find a Health Care Provider for your Informational Interview.
  5. Complete your Informational Interview according to the website guidelines.  Type questions and answers from the interview.
  6. Have the Health Care Provider complete the Community Partner Evaluation Form.
  7. Send a typed Thank You Letter according to guidelines.
  8. Complete the Student Reflection Sheet.  Type before submitting.
  9. Submit the following to the high school health teacher by the Health Course Challenge due date for the current school year. (Your work needs to be typed and demonstrate Six Trait Writing Skills):
    • Typed Informational Interview Questions
    • Copy of typed Thank You Letter
    • Completed Community Partner Evaluation Form
    • Typed Student Reflection Sheet

Community Service

Use the high school Career Center volunteer system S.H.O.C. – Students Helping Our Community to complete 10 hours of documented health related community service.

Complete the following tasks:

  1. Complete the S.H.O.C. - Registration Form and submit to the high school Career Center for processing. SHOC Registration Form
  2. Choose your community Health related service experiences from the Volunteer Opportunity for High School Students Packet that is available in the Career Center. Some suggestions are food drives, coat drives, helping the elderly.
  3. Record your hours on the time sheets as required and submit to the high school Career Center.
  4. Download the S.H.O.C. student documentation and reflection template. SHOC student record.doc
  5. Complete the template and submit in typed format to the high school health teacher by the Health Course Challenge due date for the current school year. Your work needs to be typed and demonstrate Six Trait Writing Skills.
