Use the Washington Career Information System website WOIS/The Career Information System to
complete the following tasks:
- Log-on to www.wois.org and enter your high school's site key.
- Select 'more resources/activities & worksheets/practical learning activities'.
- Under 'Curriculum and Subject Areas' select 'Health'.
- Select 'Health Careers Interview'.
- Under 'Related Occupations' select a health care provider occupation of your choice; for example, Chiropractor.
- Find answers to these questions:
- What preparation in high school is recommended?
- What educational requirements are there for entering this field?
- Are there specific training programs for this career?
- What pay range is available?
- What are some rewards of working in this area?
- What are the drawbacks?
- What are the related fields that workers in this career are qualified for?
- What does a typical day involve?
- What changes might occur in this career in the future?
- What is the job outlook for workers in this area?
- Type the questions and the answers.
- Write a reflection regarding this career that includes:
- What do you like most about this health occupation?
- What do you like least?
- What were you surprised by?
- Would you consider a career related to this occupation? Why or why not?
- What other comments and personal reactions do you have about this health occupation?
- Type your reflection.
- Submit the following to the high school health teacher by the Health Course Challenge due date for the current school year. (Your work needs to be typed and demonstrate Six Trait Writing Skills)

for High School Students
Packet that is available
in the Career Center.
Some suggestions are
food drives, coat drives,
helping the elderly.
- Record your hours on
the time sheets as required
and submit to the high
school Career Center.
- Download the S.H.O.C. student documentation and
reflection template. SHOC

- Complete the template and submit in typed format
to the high school health teacher by the Health Course
