Interested in serving as a community panelist for our senior project presentations?
Please read below the background information and time commitment needed to serve on a panel.
All seniors in Bellingham’s
four high schools are expected to complete a Culminating Project as a part of their graduation requirements. The project
gives students the chance to connect with the community by
- developing or improving a skill or performance,
- designing or creating a product, service, system
or event, or
- investigating a career.
The five components for each project are:
- proposal that states the goals and gives the plan
- scholarly paper that includes the essential research question
- portfolio that documents all stages of the project
- written reflection at the end of the project
- presentation to a panel of teachers and community members
In all four high schools (Bellingham, Options, Sehome and Squalicum), seniors
will be giving their Culminating Project presentations in January and May. Groups of four students will present to panels. As many as 500 community panelists may be needed to participate in the groups.
The time commitment for each panelist will be three to four
hours.
The high schools will provide time for training, reading student portfolios,
listening to presentations, and giving feedback. Panelists will be
asked to choose a time that is most convenient for them, either morning, afternoon or evening.
