| 6/10/09 -- Substitute Applications
Applications for substitute teaching in the Bellingham Public Schools are being accepted and will be reviewed as needed. If you previously applied to be a substitute and were not hired to work during the 2008-09 school year, you must send a letter stating you would like to be considered as a substitute for the 2009-10 school year. Substitute applications for the 2009-10 school year will be reviewed in September.

Application
Procedures:
Application materials may be submitted at any time;
however, to be considered for open positions, you must express
your interest by identifying the specific job
title and number in
a letter of application. As positions open, they will be advertised
with college and university placement bureaus, in the local
newspaper and on our district web site. Applications remain
in active status through December of each year. If for any
reason your employment status, address or phone number change,
please submit notification of that change in writing to the
Human Resources Department. Please read the

page for answers to general application questions. The following materials are required
in addition to the appropriate application forms:

Letter of application and
résumé. (Include specific job number.)
Please address letters to Nora Klewiada, Executive Director
of Human Resources.

College placement file.
Contact your college or university placement office to send
your Confidential Placement File to our Human Resources
Department. (Your Placement File is a confidential file
that contains personal data, supplemental candidate information,
summary of coursework/workshops, transcripts, evaluations,
and letters of recommendation.) If you do not have a placement
file, submit three (3) letters of recommendation.

Transcripts (official
or unofficial) for each college and/or university you have
attended.

A copy of your Washington
State teaching certificate(s) or permit. If your
Washington State certificate is pending or you are anticipating
receiving an additional endorsement, please check the appropriate
box(es) on the Certification Insert. If you are interested
in substituting, please enclose two (2) copies of your certificate.

Openings
If you also wish to be considered for substitute
teaching, check the box on the first page of the application indicating that you are interested in substitute teaching. Substitute
applications are reviewed as needed and those applicants whose
qualifications and experience best meet the District's needs
will be notified that they have been selected for the substitute
list and will be scheduled for an orientation session. Please
understand that having a completed substitute application
on file does not guarantee selection for the substitute list. Certificated

You can print and/or save the blank form, but the information
you enter CANNOT BE SAVED. We suggest you print out the blank
form and fill it in with all data by hand, THEN enter your
information electronically and print out your completed form
to be mailed to the District office. Thank you for
