School Nurse

Full-time (1.00 FTE) provisional school nurse position exists for the 2008-09 school year. Candidates who apply at this time will be considered for additional school nurse positions that may occur during the 2008-09 school year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Valid R.N. license for the State of Washington.
Bachelor’s of Science degree in nursing.
Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate or eligible for Initial ESA certificate and able to complete Washington State ESA certification requirements as follows:

Must have completed prior to, or within 180 days after certification, a 30-clock hour or three quarter hours (two semester hours) course approved by the State Board of Education which includes study in schools and society; human growth, development, and learning; American school law; legal responsibilities of the ESA; and the responsibilities of the specific ESA role in a school setting. Candidates who were trained out of state may, in lieu of the course, present verification of a state-approved certification program in the role (for example, school nurse) or three years of experience in the role under appropriate certification if certification was required.

Valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Completed Bellingham School District Certificated Application Form and Other Required Supplemental Documents.	Transcripts (official or unofficial). Three (3) letters of recommendation.
Copy of current Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate. (*Note:* Offers of employment may be made prior to receipt of Washington State ESA Certificate; however, all offers are contingent upon Washington State certification prior to the start of service. Washington State credential information and certification application materials are available through the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction at www.k12.wa.us/cert.)
