Students
in grades 5 and 8 need to demonstrate that they are
meeting grade-level standards in reading, writing and
math by this spring. Or, it will be highly recommended
that they attend summer school.
Students
in grades 5 and 8 who are highly recommended for
summer school, but whose families choose not to take
advantage of this opportunity, will have interventions
that may include an alternate schedule for at least
a portion of the day in grades 6 and 9.
This
is part of the District's
Progress and Promotion
policy 2421. All students
are expected to make progress
at every grade level and
meet specific standards
in reading, writing and
math by the end of elementary
and middle school as a
condition of regular promotion
to the next level of schooling.
School staff, parent(s)/
guardian(s) will interact
as partners to enhance
student success.
Students
in the class of 2008
and beyond need
to demonstrate that
they have met District
and state standards
in order to graduate.
The intent of the Progress
and Promotion policy
is to prepare students
along the way, keep
families informed of
their child's progress
and provide interventions
at each grade level.
The
transitions between elementary
and middle school, and middle
school and high school are
important checkpoints for progress.
Our goal is to work closely
with students and their families
so that our students succeed
in every grade level and as
they move from elementary to
middle to high school and beyond.
