SCHOOL CALENDARS
It is the intention of the parties that the school year calendar be approved
approximately one and one-half (1.5) years before implementation. Following is
a summary of the process for developing the calendar:
A. The District and Association will appoint a joint committee to formulate a list
of possible calendar options which may include, but are not limited to,
student starting dates, teacher workdays, holidays, and student ending
dates.
B. The list of options formulated by the above committee, along with specific
instructions for processing, will be sent to all building site/unit teams
comprised of a building principal/unit administrator and an Association
representative.
C. Within a time period designated by the committee, the team will make the
list of options available for review and input/feedback to the following three
groups:
1. certificated staff
2. classified staff
3. parents and families
D. The input/feedback from these three groups will be kept separate by the
team and sent back to the joint committee.
E. The joint committee, upon receipt of the input/feedback, will review and
formulate possible calendar scenarios. These scenarios will then be sent
back to the teams.
F. The teams will poll the Association members on the calendar scenarios.
The results from this poll will then be tabulated by the joint committee and
sent to the Superintendent and Association President for their review and
final recommendation.
