WRITING THE STRATEGIC PLAN
Each site will present a strategic plan that follows the district template. The template is provided in an electronic format:
STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS
Goals
Goals will be written in areas of reading, writing, math, technology and learning
environment. Each goal will be written in terms of student achievement and be measurable,
observable, specific and time bound.
Target Objectives
Target Objectives will be written for curriculum/instruction, assessment, staff
development, and parent involvement for each of the curricular areas. The target objective
will describe the new innovation identified in the needs assessment that will lead to the
goal. The target objective is representative of the research-based instructional approach
and based on shared beliefs about teaching and learning.
Strategies
Strategies or activities will be outlined that describe the work that staff will do or
programs that will be implemented that lead to the target objectives. Each strategy needs
to have an assessment tool that will allow the site to gather data to measure the progress
and effectiveness of the strategy.
Staff Development
Staff Development section should reflect the needs of the staff in order to implement
the strategies outlined in the instruction/curriculum, assessment, and parent involvement
sections of the strategic plan.
Dates
Dates are to be assigned to each strategy indicating the time when the building will
implement and work on the particular activity.
