SNOW ROUTES: Are you in A, B or C?
Depending on where you live, you may or may not have a snow route. Snow routes are divided into three groups: A, B or C.
Click here for how to know when schools are on snow routes. If you live on a regular bus route listed below and schools are on a regular schedule, be at your snow stop at your regular pick-up time. If schools are on a delay and you live on a snow route listed below, be at that snow route stop two hours later than your regular pick-up time. The Transportation office will make individual arrangements for special education buses, which do not follow the snow routes listed below.
NEW for 2009-10: We have been notified that Whatcom County plans to implement emergency road restrictions after prolonged cold weather and as the temperature rises to prevent road surfacing damage. We have been informed that the county will not allow school buses on some roads, due to vehicle weight, during restrictions when thawing is occuring. This means that the district may be forced to implement snow routes and possible other route changes during thawing when there is no snow or ice on the roads. If buses are not allowed on some roadways, parents/guardians will need to be prepared to make alternate arrangements or transport children to and from school during the county’s restriction period.
