Purpose(s):
- To provide multidisciplinary technology guidance, facilitation, and collaboration in the area of Assistive Technology
- To make recommendations for purchase of assistive technology

- To facilitate assistive technology training to District staff and students
- To screen (coordinate) requests for assistive technology
- To investigate, view, research new assistive technology devices and programs in relation to District Assistive Technology Plan
- To facilitate implementation of IDEA requirements to “consider” assistive technology for every student’s special education
- To maintain District assistive technology library of devices, materials, etc. for check out and evaluation
- To network with Washington State Special Education Technology Center
Qualifications:
- Successful experience (2+ yrs) in using assistive technology
- Interest in assistive technology
- Multidisciplinary representation
- Interest in serving on this advisory committee

- To respond to assistive technology requests

- To serve as liaison to Network Services
- To provide long-range assistive technology planning
Timeline:
- Quarterly meetings each school year
Budget
Implications:
- Substitutes for meeting attendance
- Purchase assistive technology (as part of the special education budget)
