BELLINGHAM – Seattle jazz legend Floyd Standifer is the performing artist for the 5 th Annual Squalicum High School Jazz Band Guest Artist Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 in Squalicum's forum. He will perform alongside 40 Squalicum students, who are members of the school's two jazz bands.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students at the door. For more information, call (360) 676-6471, ext. 5121. Squalicum is located at 3773 E. McLeod Road off the Mt. Baker Highway.

Standifer has played with Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Clark Terry and many other world class jazz artists. He plays the trumpet, tenor saxophone and sings every Wednesday at the New Orleans Restaurant in Seattle as well as with the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra. He previously performed as Squalicum's guest artist in October 2000.

Squalicum has two jazz bands this year because of increased interest and participation. Many of the students attended jazz camp this summer and both bands practice every morning for an hour before school. The band took first place last year in a competition in Auburn and fourth place in a highly competitive concert in Bellevue.
