The Bellingham School District has one Executive Director
for School Administration: Doug
Kyles. He is responsible for supervision of
principals and schools at all levels—elementary,
middle and high schools and the Student Services Department. (The Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent also supervise schools
and departments.) Please visit
the link for the School Supervision List to identify
the supervisor for the school and department in which you have an interest.
The
role of the Executive Director for School Administration is to build a strong learning community
that leads to high levels of student success and achievement. The Executive Director
supervises, coaches and evaluates principals and directors. The Executive Director regularly visits schools
to support and monitor the implementation of building strategic
plans; promotes effective relationships with all staff; responds
to staff and parent issues and concerns that are left unresolved
after principal involvement; facilitates direct and clear communication
between principals and central services staff; and helps solve problems
when necessary.
The
Executive Director also leads and serves on district-wide committees
and task groups. The Executive Director provides information and proposals to the Superintendent
and other central services staff. The Executive Director implements policies and directives
from the Board of Directors; supports and monitors the District’s
strategic plan; helps secure community and staff involvement in support
of schools; and maintains an effective public information program.
