Bellingham School District has two Executive Directors
for School Administration: Sherrie Brown and Doug
Kyles. They are each responsible for supervision of
principals and schools at all levels—elementary,
middle and high schools. (The Deputy
Superintendent supervises two individual schools
because of special program considerations.) Please visit
the link for the School Supervision List to identify
the supervisor for the school in which you have an interest.
The
role of the Executive Directors is to build a strong learning community
that leads to high levels of student success and achievement. They
supervise, coach and evaluate principals. They regularly visit schools
to support and monitor the implementation of building strategic
plans; to promote effective relationships with all staff; respond
to staff and parent issues and concerns that are left unresolved
after principal involvement; facilitate direct and clear communication
between principals and central services staff; and help solve problems
when necessary.
The
Executive Directors also lead and serve on district-wide committees
and task groups. They provide information and proposals to the Superintendent
and other central services staff. They implement policies and directives
from the Board of Directors; support and monitor the District’s
strategic plan; help secure community and staff involvement in support
of schools; and maintain an effective public information program.
