How t o delete the fine of a student who has moved sites:
1. Logging into the site where the student moved FROM, go to Back Office > Site Configuration, and check the box for "Allow circulation to all patrons in the district"
2. Do the same thing at the site where the student moved TO.
3. Once that is done, log back in to the site where the student moved FROM, and go to Circulation > Fines. Uncheck the box for "Only my patrons" and search for the student.
4. On the returned hit list, click on the student, and you will then be able to pay the fine.
5. Once the fine is paid, you can then go to Back Office > Site Configuration, and uncheck "Allow circulation to all patrons in the district" for both sites.
If the 3 ("Y") key doesn't work when transferring files from the Dolphin:
First, try pushing the 3 key firmly and for a half second to see if that works.. The Dolphins are old and the buttons can be a worn out. If that does not work, firmly push the Shift key before pushing the 3. The shift key toggles the keys between numeric and alpha.
Rebooting the Dolphin:
Hold down all at once: Shift + On Scan + Backspace
Note that stored text (barcodes) will NOT be deleted when rebooting the Dolphin.
What does "Interleaved 2 of 5" mean in the Dolphin display?
"Interleaved 2 of 5" refers to the barcode symbology that the Dolphin recognizes. You can ignore this message.
When I manually enter a barcode, the Dophin display shows question marks, what does that mean?
If you manually enter a barcode, there is no symbology and so the Dolphin shows question marks. You can ignore them.
Proper alignment for printing patron barcodes on label sheets
To get the printed labels to align properly on the sheet, there are three setting that need to be changed:
1) Before you "print" the report, adjust the vertical offset. The exact number may vary according to the printer you are using, so you may need to experiment a bit, begin by trying 12. After you have printed the report, open it in the Job Manager.
2) The report is in PDF format. Choose Edit > Print and change Page Scaling to "None" and
3) Turn off (uncheck) Auto-Rotate and Center.
The first time, print to a plain piece of paper. Take that page and place it over a page of blank labels and hold it up to a window to see if the printed barcodes are properly placed. If they are, you can continue creating and printing reports on label paper. If the page does not align, adjust the vertical offset until the barcodes are properly spaced.
Graduated students are showing up in my patron database.
It's not a flaw, it's a feature! Destiny does not automatically delete students who have moved on 0r graduated. They must be deleted manually. This is very easy to do. Go to: Back Office > Update Patrons > Global Delete and delete patrons based on Graduation Year (or other criteria). Note that patrons with outstanding transactions will not be deleted unless you choose to do so.
