General Policies for School Libraries (including Educational Technology)
Policies and Procedures which impact School Library Media Programs  

A frameworks guide produced by WLMA/OSPI for library media directors, to develop policies for Selection, Fines & Loss Replacement, Copyright, Electronic Access & Acceptable Use, Interlibrary Loan, Patron Confidentiality, and Intellectual Freedom. Includes position statement from AASL, ALA, AECT, NCTE.

Surplusing Materials in Washington State RCW 28A.335.180   The law in Washington State that guides district policies in discarding unused materials.
Bellingham-Library Collection Management Manual   Collection Management and Development policies and procedures for Bellingham's K-12 school libraries organized in 4 sections: Assess, Acquire, Maximize Access, and Maintain.
U.S. Office of Educational Technology   A key part of the teacher librarian's role in school is to facilitate the use of educational technology. Goals are to provide leadership in the use of technology for student achievement, recommend policies to promote increased use of technology, and support the National Education Technology Plan.
Washington State Educational Tech Plan   Per RCW 28A.650.015, OSPI is directed to "develop and implement a Washington state K-12 education technology plan", which must be updated "on at least a biennial basis", and which should be developed "to coordinate and expand the use of education technology in the common schools of the state".

Edmonds School District Procedures for Selection of Instructional Materials   Includes procedures for selection of Internet-accessible information, library materials and the district media collection, and the reconsideration process.
Everett School District Selection and Adoption of Instructional Materials   Includes controversial materials and reconsideration of materials and checklists for detecting bias, etc.
Baltimore, MD Selection Policies   Stated purpose is to ensure that all instructional materials extend the knowledge and understanding of the Essential Curriculum.
American Library Association (ALA) Workbook for Selection Policy Writing   Includes step-by-step template for writing a selection and reconsideration policy

Instructional Materials Policies: Challenges to Materials
Bellingham School District Instructional Materials Policy 2311   This policy includes Requests for Reconsideration of Instructional Materials, and is supported by Procedures 2311P, and the Request for Reconsideration form.
Edmonds School District Procedures Related to Public Requests for Removal of Instructional Materials   Includes procedures for reconsideration of any type of material.
Norris School District "Request for Reconsideration of Books, Learning Activities, or Teaching Presentations "   A form used for reconsideration of materials
