Setting Up A Computer To Run Follett Applications

You might want to print these instructions before following this procedure.

Log into the computer you want the Follett applications installed on. If the computer is using Deep Freeze, Deep Freeze must be turned off during this installation procedure.

Open Windows Explorer ( not Internet Explorer). Windows Explorer is the file management program for the Windows operating system.

In the address bar type the following:

\\fol1\

and tap Enter. You will see a folder for each school. Open your school’s folder and open the following folders in succession:

Lib1\CC40\Wcommon

Inside the Wcommon folder you will see an executable file with the name “wsetup.exe”

Double click on that file and click “OK” when prompted to continue setup.

When it asks if the computer is for Patron Use Only, click “No” (unless it is for patron use only).

The setup program will install a set of default shortcuts on the computer you are using. These shortcuts will be installed in the Start/Programs menu and on the desktop.

Once installed, unneeded shortcuts to programs you don’t plan to use on that computer can be deleted, the name of a shortcut can be changed, and the shortcuts can be moved or copied to or from the desktop, Start > Programs menu, etc.

If Deep Freeze was turned off for the installation, be sure to turn it back on.

NOTE: if you also plan to install Follett applications for a second database on the same computer, you will need to rename the shortcuts created for the main database. If you do not do this, the shortcuts for the first database will be overwritten.
