Year End Tasks for April - June

Patron Management

  • Notify students and staff of final due date for all materials.
  • Print final overdue list to check on in the fall.
  • High School: Follow student clearance procedures as instructed by building principal.
  • Textbooks: Process according to building practices.
  • Collect curriculum materials from staff members leaving the building or changing grade level

Collection Maintenance

  • Do Inventory  if not completed earlier.
  • Print Inventory report and Finalize Inventory.
  • Attempt to recover missing items and levy fines for lost materials.
  • Complete an Annual Report and submit to the Director of Instructional Technology and Libraries before you leave for the summer.
  • Finalize book order by June 15th to spend current year's allotment.
  • Gather input from staff and students for next year's collection needs.
  • Complete yearly weeding project.
  • Process discards and rebinds.

Media Center Management

  • Prepare library for summer break.
  • Make notes for tasks that need to be done in the Fall.
  • Order supplies for next year using form from Intructional Technology and Libraries Department.
  • Request purchases from building budget to meet program goals for next year, including printer cartridges and paper supplies.
  • Surplus and discard non-functioning equipment using appropriate form.
  • Notify staff if equipment needs to be stored in the library for the summer.
  • Submit funds and receipts collected through fines or replacement to the school office.
  • Evaluate yearly goals and check progress toward completion.

Network Management

  • Notify students that all home drive accounts and e-mail will be cleared over the summer. Arrange for students to save files as you deem necessary.
  • Create computer work orders for summer completion.

School Web Page

  • Update calendar to reflect summer schedule.
  • Update calendar for Fall information: start of school, sports turn-out information, building events, etc.
  • Remind teachers with web pages to post any summer messages and delete expired information

 

Instructional Program

  • Promote summer reading opportunities for students and families with the Bellingham Public Library.
  • Plan and advertise Elementary School Summer Library program, if offered.

 

Curriculum Development

  • Submit ideas to Intructional Technology and Libraries Director for summer projects, both individual and group (example: new teacher orientation, writing online research projects, updating collection management document).
