INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS COMMITTEE
Thursday –May 29, 2008
4:00 – 5:30 pm, Conference Room 212

MEETING MINUTES

• Members Present: Laura Rink, Ann Reed, Jean Prochaska

• Jean shared the new Healthy Youth Act requirements with the committee and informed the committee that the State Department of Health will need to approve all presentations, supplementary materials, and curriculum before they can be used. This requirement overrides the district IMC process.

• Jean suggested that we wait through the summer to wait for the various groups, such as Planned Parenthood, to make their presentations to the State Department of Health before we approve the presentations and materials for the district.

• Jean also shared the F.L.A.S.H. curriculum that is a free download and Healthy Youth Act approved. Jean is asking confirmation that this curriculum be used as supplemental resource until other materials can be approved by the State. Ann suggested that we download the materials and store it on the P-drive to lessen the impact on network system for downloading from the internet.

Laura suggested that we move forward and approve for supplemental use. Jean will recommend that the district convene a K-12 committee next fall.

• Laura would be willing to serve an additional year for the continuity for the new members.

• We will revisit forms for the September 2008 meeting.

• Jean adjourned the meeting at 4:40 pm.

Respectfully submitted: Ann Reed, Secretary
