The Secondary Math Curriculum Committee recommends Connected Mathematics textbooks for the middle school math program and the committee recommends College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) texts for the high school math program.

Connected Mathematics is an integrated, investigative math program for grades 6-8 that has been approved by the National Science Foundation, rated “exemplary” by the U.S. Department of Education, and ranked as the number one middle school math program by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).  Connected Mathematics is aligned with the recommendations of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Essential Academic Learning Requirements and supports the Bellingham School District math curriculum.  In this program students investigate math concepts through the use of interactive problems.  The program also provides for practice (homework), applications, connections and extensions of math concepts.

College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) is a rigorous, integrated, inquiry-based mathematics program that includes a broad variety of materials that range from support for students who are struggling in math (Foundations, Year 1 and Year 2) through advanced math (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II).  The program is aligned with the recommendations of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements and supports the Bellingham School District math curriculum.
