Meeting Minutes

• Present: Linda Chapman, Laura Rink, Susan Hofstetter, Anne Seeger, Kristin O’Malley, Carol Egan, Ann Reed

• Joan Logghe, Sehome High School request for consideration of non-basic instructional textbook American’s History: Land of Liberty Books 1 & 2, by Vivian Bernstein/Harcourt Achieve

Carol described Joan’s initial review of the text and provided information to the committee in terms of recommendation of the text as a non-basic instructional text. Discussion and questions followed. Committee members completed evaluation forms. Committee approved the text.

• David Rostykus request for consideration for classroom use of DVDs

o Rivers and Tides, by Andy Goldsworthy
Carol played sections of the DVD, to get a feeling for the content. David’s AV evaluation form was shared with the committee. David will need to note the use of the specific clips as the DVD is copyright protected for home use only. Committee members completed the AV non-basic form. Committee approved with a rating of adequate to exemplary.

o Sister Wendy’s Story of Painting, Volume 2-The Renaissance

Not presented at this time.

• Kristin O’Malley, Bellingham High School request for consideration of supplemental text Religions of the World, by Hopfe, Lewis and Mark Woodword.

Kristin shared an overview of the text and answered questions from the committee. The title has an accompanying DVD and web resources. The resource is presented as a non-basic supplementary text.

The committee will make a recommendation by December 5.
