The School Board adopted the K-12 Health and Fitness/Physical Education Curriculum Guide in May 2001. District curriculum guides are a resource for teachers when planning their teaching. Documents listed to the right link you to Health and Fitness/Physical Education grade level expectations.

 

Health Education Philosophy Statement

"Health education is an essential part of each student's overall education with health literacy as its foundation. The health education program will strive to develop healthy individuals who contribute positively to self, family, and community."

 

Fitness/Physical Education Philosophy Statement

"Physical education is an essential part of each student's overall education with movement as its foundation. Physical educators will provide a safe and sequential program of fitness and motor skills addressing students' needs and potential. The program will strive to develop a physically educated person who is a life-long learner and participant in physical activity."
